It’s that time of year again and I am in the middle of planning a unicorn party for my girls’ combined birthday.
Each year, we throw a combined birthday party as they are born a day apart. Last year we had a mermaid-themed party. We had entertainers dressed as a mermaid and a pirate and the venue was decked out in Under The Sea decor.
This year the girls are all about the unicorn and so I’m sharing some of my inspiration and ideas that had whilst planning a Unicorn Party.
The first thing on my party planning list is sorting out the guest list and sending out invitations. Planning the guest list with a 2-year-old and a 4-year-old is somewhat testing but having a resource like Paperless Post makes the process much easier.
Paperless Post has countless options for invitations and you can edit them really easily to add the party information. All RSVP’s are tracked and you can also send reminders to your guests.
I have used Paperless Post for every birthday party in our family for the past few years (and a few baby showers) and honestly I would never go back to snail mail.
Don’t tell me you haven’t seen one of these unicorn face cakes before. They are all over Instagram and look too delicious to eat.
You will find quite a few unicorn-themed party games on Pinterest. Pinata is one of the easiest to organise and kids love it. Fill it with some small bags of sweets, novelty toys and stickers. Add some bouncing balls if you are looking to end the game in utter chaos.
The Food and Drink
I’m going to be totally honest. This year I have a venue that will provide all the catering because between starting up a new business, being a wife and mum, and staying sane, I just don’t have the energy to do it myself. If you are are going to outsource the food and drink, take some inspiration from the cookies and rainbow juice above. And don’t forget some bubbly and snacks for the parents.
The Party Favours
A quick search on the internet and you will come up with endless ideas for party bags. Etsy.com and Notonthehighstreet.com are a good place to start. I found unicorn bracelets, unicorn bubbles, unicorn teddies and bags of unicorn poop (sweets). I love the idea of the unicorn headbands pictured above.
I’ve had a blast googling unicorn party ideas for the girls’ party and I can’t wait to share photos from the event with you.
