Picture this. It’s late Sunday afternoon and the kids are starting to nag because they are hungry. They have come off their sugar-high from a birthday party that ended in tears a few hours earlier. Your husband is pretending to sleep on the sofa in front of the TV.
The LAST thing you feel like doing is starting to prepare a healthy, homemade meal for the kids’ dinner. You mummy-guilt kicks in because you know they need something nutritious, wholesome which is usually made from scratch. At the same time your can’t-be-asked attitude is telling you to make them toast.
This is when you need a stockpile of Piccolo Plates meals in your fridge or freezer.
Piccolo Plates is a kids meals delivery service that was started by Eleanor and Bella (fondly known as Els and Bels). With backgrounds in nutrition and the food industry, they have teamed together to create and cook delicious meals with ‘No added sugar. No added salt. Just natural and nutritious.‘
Each meal is nutritionally balanced and arrives in a container that can be put in the oven for heating. You can also freeze the meals for up to 3 months but remember to defrost the dish before heating in the oven.
Bels and Els kindly dropped off a few of their dishes for us to try and my girls got stuck into the Chicken and Pesto Nuggets like it was no ones business. I personally love the Veggie pie (yes, I tried the dishes out myself) because it doesn’t taste like a load of veg is crammed in each mouthful.
Currently there are 7 delicious meals to choose which include Fish Pie, Chicken and Pesto Nuggets, and 7 Veggie Pasta Bake. Each dish costs £5 and are generous enough to feed both my girls in one sitting if you add some extra veg on the side.
