Have you heard about the car seat that weighs 750g? The Mifold is perfect for families who love to travel.
Travelling with kids is nothing short of a schlep; hence I am always on the lookout for gadgets to save me time or effort. One such gadget is the Mifold Grab and Go Booster Seat.
This award-winning invention is designed for children aged 4 – 12 and meets all the safety standards.
I used the Mifold Grab and Go booster seat on two recent journeys back to South Africa. I packed it at the top of my luggage so that when we landed I could easily unpack it and put it into our hire car.
It did take a short while to figure it out (primarily because I don’t read instructions and assume I know it all) but I do recommend reading the instructions from a safety standpoint.
My eldest Stella was rather chuffed that she didn’t get strapped into a dated ‘baby seat’ hired from Avis and instead to use a seat belt like grown ups because she had her Mifold. She did get a little frustrated that she could not see out of the window because she was not sitting at the height provided by a booster seat. But I was happy to tolerate a little whingeing in exchange for the convenience of the Mifold.
How is a Mifold different from a typical booster seat?
Simply put, the Mifold “adjusts an adult-sized seatbelt to securely fit a child”.
Instead of lifting a child higher to accommodate the height/position of a seatbelt, the Midfold brings the seatbelt down to the child’s position. It ensures that the seatbelt is held across the hips of the child and away from the stomach, neck, face and shoulders.
Dimensions of a Mifold
It is 10 times smaller than the conventional booster seat, measuring 10in x 5in x 2in. And it weighs a mere 750 grams.
It is small enough to pack in your onboard baggage so that you have it ready for when you land at your destination and have picked up your car hire.
The Mifold meets EU regulations and exceeds US regulations for booster seats.
